Nigel Bingham
Managing Partner. Pencarrow Private Equity

Nigel is a Managing Partner of Pencarrow and has more than 30 years’ experience in private equity, mergers & acquisitions and corporate finance. Prior to joining Pencarrow in 2005, Nigel was a partner with investment bank, Cameron Partners, and earlier an executive at Fay, Richwhite. Nigel has a BSc (Hons) First Class in Statistics, an MSc with Distinction in Mathematics and a Diploma of Business Studies in Finance and is a council member of the New Zealand Private Equity & Venture Capital Association.

Nigel is currently on the boards of Seequent, MMC and Netlogix.

Matthew Goodson
Managing Director & Portfolio Manager, SALT Funds Management

Matthew has more than 24 years experience in the finance sector. Matthew is a Director and Shareholder of Salt and a Portfolio Manager for the Dividend Appreciation Fund, Enhanced Property Fund and Long Short Fund and Salt’s wholesale funds.

Matthew started his career as an Economist with Garlick & Co from 1993-1995 before becoming Head of Research from 1995-1997. He then spent seven years in New York working for BZW and Goldman Sachs JB Were as Director, Wholesale Equities before returning to New Zealand in 2004 to work for First NZ Capital also as Director, Wholesale Equities until 2009. During this time Matthew also managed a long short fund for First NZ Capital from 2006-2008. Immediately prior to founding Salt, Matthew was employed for over four years as a Portfolio Manager at BT Funds Management (NZ) Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Westpac Financial Services Group Limited.

Matthew has a Bachelor of Arts degree and Masters in Commerce and Administration (First Class Honours) from Victoria University of Wellington and is a holder of the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.

Philip Houghton-Brown
Chief Investment Officer, Mercer Funds, New Zealand

Prior to joining Mercer in July 2012, Philip gained 23 years of investment experience, including working as the Chief Investment Officer for ING/OnePath (NZ). He also worked for AMP Asset Management in London managing international equity funds and as an Analyst for FPG Research, researching fund managers.

Philip holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Canterbury University, a Diploma from the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (UK) and is a holder of the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.

Suse Reynolds
Executive Director, Angel Association NZ

Suse has been on the AANZ Council since its inception in 2008 and took up the Executive Director role four years ago. Angel Association NZ is the industry representative body for early stage investment. Currently the AANZ has 29 members including 11 angel networks spanning the country, 4 funds, 2 equity crowd-funding platforms and 3 investor-led tech incubators.

In 2005 Suse helped to found AngelHQ, the Wellington region’s angel network and remains on the Board. Today AngelHQ has over 80 members and has invested over $17m into 63 high-growth startup companies. Suse is an active angel investor with about 20 ventures in her portfolio.

Suse is on the board of CreativeHQ and is the Chair of Callaghan Innovation’s Stakeholder Advisory Group. She is also a member of the Institute of International Affairs Standing Committee. And a committee member of the Wellington branch of the Institute of Directors.

Prior to her roles in angel investment, Suse was the Chief Operating Officer and General Manager Investment at Grow Wellington. Before taking up these positions, she was the Executive Director of the Trade Liberalisation Network. This followed a 10 year career with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade which included working for the Foreign Minister and a posting in London representing New Zealand’s trade and economic interests.

Suse has a Bachelor of Commerce and an Honours Law Degree, both completed at Victoria University.
